Man allegedly admits to robbing espresso stands, bank

EVERETT – A 30-year-old Everett man is set to be arraigned today on multiple charges of robbery in the first degree.

The man is suspected in a series of robberies at espresso stands in Marysville, Arlington and Everett.

On Saturday, two people saw local news coverage and provided information that identified a possible suspect and his vehicle, which matched descriptions from several robberies.

As detectives gathered evidence, the Columbia Bank in Snohomish was robbed Tuesday. That afternoon, the man was arrested and reportedly admitted to robbing the bank and espresso stands.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on multiple counts of robbery.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have been investigating a series of espresso stand robberies since Jan. 4. In each robbery the man implied he had a handgun.

Police have not said if the man is the same suspect being sought in one attempted robbery and one robbery of espresso stands in Arlington Saturday.

At an espresso stand in the 500 block of N. Olympic Avenue, a barista refused to give the robber money, locked the stand window and the suspect ran off.

Less than a half hour later, the suspect robbed an espresso stand in the 17300 block of Smokey Point Boulevard some 5 miles away, police spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. The barista complied with the demand, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed sum of money, Banfield said.
