AMTRAK stages mass casualty incident

Several emergency response organizations are partnering with AMTRAK to stage a mass casuality incident scheduled for March 17.

STANWOOD — Several emergency response organizations are partnering with AMTRAK to stage a mass casuality incident scheduled for March 17.

A “gunman” will be shooting people on board two AMTRAK passenger training cars that are being brought up from California for the event, said North County Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Christian Davis.

The exercise will take place at 8600 Cedarhome Dr., in Stanwood, with North County Fire/EMS working with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and AMTRAK to stage the incident.

“The reason for this intense training exercise is that North County Regional Fire Authority is preparing for the future Stanwood AMTRAK Station that is scheduled for completion later this year,” Davis said.

Agencies assisting include Stanwood Police Department, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Marysville Fire District, Conway Fire Department, Stanwood Fire Department and Silvana Fire District 19.
