SHORELINE — The Lakewood girls softball team had no trouble finding the ball in their season debut win over Shorecrest 18-9 March 14. Lakewood’s Jenna Melpon, Alexis Campinen, Emily Grenard and Maggie Weiland were all 3-for-6 at the plate. All doubled as well, except for Melpon, who led with a triple. “Our two captains to lead this team are senior infielder Alexis Lampinen and junior catcher Jenna Melton,” Lakewood coach Travis Boortz said. “Both are former players who are expected to have a big impact on the team.”

EVERETT — The Arlington girls tennis team won all five matches against Mariner March 14 in their season-opener.

Singles—Livia Markwart, 6-2 and 6-0; Layla Garduno Craviato, incomplete due to weather; Aleida Garduno Craviato, 6-3, 6-2; and Lily Bynum, 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles—Gigi Moss and Sierra Roach, 6-2, 6-1; Bethany Barnett and Evie Riston, 6-4, 6-1; and Faith Gould and Jessica Abraham, incomplete due to weather.

Arlington lost at home 4-3 March 16. Singles—Layla Garduno-Cravito, 6-3 and 6-0; Aleida Garduno-Cravito, 6-2, 4-6 and 6-0; and Barnett, 6-4, 7-6 and (7-5). Arlington’s record is 1-1.

LAKE STEVENS — Arlington took out Lake Stevens in its season-opener in baseball 23-4 March 15. Dillon Kujath hit 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and teammate Daniel Smith was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs. At Monroe, Arlington lost 4-3. Kujath recorded a double and so did Tristan Sheward. Arlington’s record is 1-1.

SHORELINE — The Lakewood girls tennis lost to Shorecrest 4-0 March 15. Lakewood’s record is 0-1.

SHORELINE — The Lakewood boys soccer team was blanked 8-0 March 16.
