Arlington and M-ville teams playoff bound (slide show)

ARLINGTON — The Lady Eagles' topped off their perfect regular season with a 78-36 win over Marysville Getchell Feb. 9. Sarah Shortt led the Eagles with 13 points and teammates Jayla Russ and Gracie Castaneda added 11 apiece. MG's Mikail Montez scored a game-high 19 points.

Arlington is seeded No. 2 in the 3A district tournament at 20-0. They host the No. 7 seed Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. MG is seeded at No. 6 11-9, and will play at Glacier Peak Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood girls basketball trounced Granite Falls 60-38 Feb. 9. Emily Senyitko led Lakewood with 13 points. The Cougars are seeded No. 5 in the Cascade 2A district tournament with a record of 15-5. They are set to play Shorecrest Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville-Pilchuck girls basketball team lost to Stanwood 85-21 Feb. 9. MacKenzie Justice and Dominque Jenkins led M-P with six points apiece. M-P finished its season 3-17.

TULALIP — The boys and girls basketball teams both advance in the 1B district tournament. The girls team opponent is to be determined, but are entering districts with a perfect 20-0 record. They will host at Tulalip Heritage and play at 2 p.m.

The boys enter with a 13-9 record. They will host Muckleshoot Tribal School Feb. 11 at 6 p.m.

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood boys basketball team lost to Granite Falls 58-57 Feb. 9. Matthew Keen led Lakewood with 18 points. Lakewood finished its season 4-16.

MARYSVILLE — Arlington’s Drew Bryson scored a game-high 20 and teammate Donovan Sellgren added 16 enroute to a 66-49 win over Marysville Getchell Feb. 8. Cody Day led the Chargers with 17 points. Arlington finished its season 9-11 overall and MG 8-12.

Arlington is seeded No. 6 in the 3A district tournament and will play at Mountlake Terrace Feb. 12.

STANWOOD — An emotionally driven Josh Bevan scored a team-high 24 points on the night his dad passed Feb. 8. M-P improved its record 9-10 and are seeded No. 4 in the 3A district tournament. They were to play at Ferndale Feb. 12.

STANWOOD — Arlington placed first out of seven teams at the 3A North Sub-Regional Tournament at Stanwood High School Feb. 6.

Arlington had a combined score of 392.5 points and will be advancing 15 placers, including eight firsts, and two alternates to regionals. Those wrestlers are: 106—Kadin Guzman, fourth, and Brendan Connelly, fifth (alternate); 113—Danny Herrera, third; 120—Christian Evanger, first, and Will Rush, second; 126—Boston Jones, first; 132—Gavin Rork, first; 138—Jeremy Nygard, second, and Riley Oaks, fourth; 145—Cooper McAuslan, first, and Parker Spady, second; 160—Azariah Crew, first, and Wyatt Hawthorne, fourth; 170—Ruben Crew first; 182—Andrew Roundy, third; 195—Colton Ferro, first, and Kenny Mills, fifth (alternate); and 220—Adalberto Ramos, first.

Arlington also had regional qualifiers on the girls team: 100-Aspen Carbajal, fifth (alternate); 105—Robin Hernandez championed over Lakewood’s Lexi Perry; 120—Rachel Sherson, third; and 135—J’lanaye Julien, third.

Marysville-Pilchuck placed third overall with a score of 211.5 points. Their qualifiers were: 106—Cole Daurie, first; 126—Devin Fahlman, fifth (alternate); 145—Justin Collier, fifth (alternate); 160—Keith Pablo, second; 182—Preston Jones, fifth (alternate); 195—Dakota Guzman, fourth; and 285—Adam Holston, fifth (alternate).

Marysville Getchell placed sixth overall with a score of 120.5 points. Their qualifiers were: 126—Anthony Labrake, fourth; 152—Michael Stewart, fifth (alternate); 220—Troy Woodruff, second, and Charlie Diedrich, third; and 285—Brett Engelman, second.
