ARLINGTON — The Arlington Free Methodist Youth Center will be working to help feed “Children of the Nations” Nov. 13.

“We’re doing a fun major food packaging project to make meals for six for third-world countries,” said Jeanne Wessel, who noted that the cost per meal is 25 cents, which is why the youth center is raising approximately $5,000 to cover the costs of approximately 20,000 meals.

Pastor Chuck Shocki explained that the event is set to start at 10 a.m. He expects it to run between four and six hours, and hopes to have between 40 and 50 volunteers to prepare between 12,000 and 16,000 meals.

“If anyone else wants to drop by and lend a hand, they’re welcome to do so,” Shocki said. “We’ve asked that the meals we make be directed to those in need in Haiti.”

The Arlington Free Methodist Youth Center is located at 730 E. Highland Dr. in Arlington.
