SMOKEY POINT May Day flowers brightened the day of Stillaguamish Senior Center residents May 1, thanks to the employees of the Arlington Haggen Food and Pharmacy.
Arlington Haggen store bookkeeper Dianne Andrew explained to the seniors that she and several of her fellow Haggen staff members have started taking on more community service projects.
The Haggen crew presented the seniors with eight flowerpots, dropping off two flowerpots per housing unit as they introduced themselves with cookies and juice.
Well come back every couple of months to do fertilizing and weeding, Andrew said. Well even replace any of our plants that die off. I live right nearby, so Ill probably be coming back a lot this summer.
Although the May Day flowers are but one of many projects that a number of Arlington Haggen workers have undertaken to lose weight, Andrew noted that they are proud to show their support for the seniors, since they share the same community.
Stillaguamish Senior Center residents such as Marion Jahr, Carol Kline and Helen Kompelin personally thanked the Haggen group for their efforts, which Kompelin deemed a treat.
