ARLINGTON – A 32-year-old Arlington man was arrested Oct. 26 on four counts of possession of child pornography.
The man apparently applied for a job as a police officer in Mount Vernon last year. He disclosed that he had viewed child pornography on computers in his home during the course of a pre-employment background investigation.
Arlington police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in the 16500 block of 42nd Ave. NE and removed three computers, external hard drives and other computer components.
Forensic analysis of the computers revealed over 340 images and one video depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The forensic analysis also uncovered the suspect had also installed data destruction software on the computers.
The suspect is being held in Snohomish County Jail in Everett on two counts of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct in the first degree, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The other charges are two counts of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct in the second degree, a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
