ARLINGTON — On Monday, April 30, at approximately 3:15 p.m., an Arlington Police officer on patrol came upon the scene of a two-car head-on injury collision in the 5200 block of 172nd Street NE that had just occurred. The roadway was blocked between the 5100 and 5900 blocks of 172nd Street NE for about three and a half hours following the collision.

The collision involved a 2006 GMC three-quarter-ton pickup and a 1992 Ford Probe with two occupants in each vehicle. A female passenger from the Ford Probe suffered serious injuries to her lower body from the impact and had to be extricated by Arlington Fire Department personnel. She was transported by Arlington Fire Department personnel to Providence Hospital, Colby Campus, for further treatment. The two drivers and the passenger in the truck were transported to Cascade Valley Hospital for further evaluation. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening at the time of transport.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit Detectives were called to assist with the technical investigation. The roadway was reopened to all traffic at approximately 6:45 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. Drugs and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the collision. No arrests have been made, pending the outcome of the investigation and toxicology lab results.
