ARLINGTON — A woman who reported receiving an accidental gunshot wound to the abdomen was met by Snohomish County deputies after being admitted to Cascade Valley Hospital Jan. 31.

The on-scene deputy reported that the woman was transported to the hospital by a friend, and her injuries were not life-threatening. The hospital reported the incident to 911 around noon that day.

The investigation surrounding the discharge of the weapon is ongoing. It appears the weapon might have malfunctioned. The firearm is legally owned, and no criminal action appears to be involved.

Jennifer Egger, community relations coordinator for Cascade Valley, confirmed that the woman is still at the hospital, “in satisfactory condition.”
