ARLINGTON After after winning the $2.3 million Lotto jackpot, Arlington resident Owen Osborns concerns remained practical.
Were paying off the mortgage and our debts, said the 48-year-old Osborn, a retail clerk at Wilsons Market in Everett for 19 years. Our anniversary is in July, so Ill probably take my wife to the Bahamas, but Im not quitting work.
Osborn did take the day off Feb. 7 to speak with the press, at the Everett office of Washingtons Lottery. Hes been married to his wife Pat for 17 years, and hes been buying Lotto tickets for just as long.
Osborn purchased the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven in Everett. After all six of his Lotto numbers matched the Feb. 6 drawing, he called the winning numbers line twice that night, just to make sure hed won.
Its exhilarating, Osborn said. It hasnt quite sunk in yet.
Because he took the cash option, Osborn walked away with a check for $862,500 after taxes. He said most of that money would go toward bottom line expenses, but noted that he now has some money to set aside for retirement.
