ARLINGTON The Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics Take Time for Health Fair March 10 packed the Arlington High School commons with close to 1,000 attendees, according to CVHC Marketing Coordinator LuAnne Kay.
At one point, we ran out of strips for glucose testing and had to get more, Kay said. People could get 18 different health checks, from eyes and bones to skin and spines, and each one had several people waiting.
Kay estimated that more than 100 people completed the full round of stroke screening, which included glucose and blood pressure tests, as well as cholesterol checks and consultations with health care providers.
It was really in-depth, Kay said. The speakers panels were also very well attended, with people meeting with the speakers in the hallways afterwards to learn more. Everything was free, except for cholesterol checks, which were $5 apiece. Usually, those run for $80.
Kay noted that 20 vendors outside of CVHC also took part in the fair, as did several sponsors, including the Arlington Haggen Food and Pharmacy Store, which donated free food. She also praised the AHS Honor Society members who helped set up and take down the booths and equipment, and the volunteers from CVHC.
