MARYSVILLE The Masters Touch Christian School Class of 2007 was the last class of students who will ever graduate from MTCS.

MARYSVILLE The Masters Touch Christian School Class of 2007 was the last class of students who will ever graduate from MTCS.
Next years seniors will be the first graduating class from Arlingtons Highland Christian Prep School, the new name of MTCS. On June 8, MTCS held its last graduation ceremony at the Word of Life Lutheran Brethren Church in Marysville.
MTCS Principal Mark Brown teased his 11 graduating seniors for making sure their time together stayed interesting.
There was never a dull moment, Brown said. Theyre amazing individuals who have already made their mark and changed the face of this school. They challenged the system and the way things were done and even when I told them the proper procedures, I had to take my hat off to them in respect because this school isnt here to create robots.
MTCS Class of 2007 Salutatorian Matthew Rohner admitted that he hadnt had much time to reflect on what his remarks would be, but he spoke passionately nonetheless about the experiences he and his peers had shared, as well as the bonds theyd forged.
Jack is my Italian blood brother now, said Rohner, pointing to fellow graduate and Italian exchange student Giacomo Chilovi. Rohner recalled that he met many of his current classmates back in eighth grade, before reminiscing about the senior class trips they took.
I wouldnt trade those times for anything, Rohner said. Ill never forget you guys.
MTCS Class of 2007 Valedictorian Nathan Graber passed the baton of leadership to junior Elizabeth Crowley, before urging his peers to make a difference in all areas of their lives.
The choices we make in the next few years will affect the rest of our lives, Graber said. Right now, we feel overwhelmed by all these opportunities, but we need to do our parts, set goals, keep on track, not act too impulsively, seek wisdom and look to the Lord in all our decisions. Dont just make a difference, make the difference.
Pastor Steve Brown delivered the commencement address, reflecting upon the five seasons of life and reminding the graduating seniors that they had already passed through two of those phases, in childhood and adolescence. He then summarized each student in the graduating class affectionately.
Brown characterized Chloe Putnam as welcoming and encouraging, while he described Bethany Hawkins as easygoing and accepting. He held up Lindsay Andrews-Noble as a happy cheerleader, before singling out Courtney Knoedler as an industrious multi-tasker.
Jack is an adventurer who gave us a uniquely Italian perspective on U.S. history, Brown said. Nates a thinker, who wants us to go to Mars next. If I had to describe Matt in one word, it would be mischievous.
Adam Graber earned Browns praise for his speed on the basketball court, just as Ashley Hussey was labeled bright, caring and diligent by Brown.
Nick [Van Dam] managed to hold back his laughter, when I hit my golf balls into the pond, Brown said. And Brandon [Schreiner] has the delivery of a revival preacher, and the hair to go with it.
Jokes aside, Pastor Brown encouraged the students to look at themselves as lives in progress, even as he deemed himself and everyone else in attendance a life in progress.
