Library sets February events

The Arlington Public Library recently announced its list of February events.

For children and

families:

Baby story time — Tuesdays, Feb. 9-23, 9:30 a.m.: Babies and their favorite adults learn to love reading together with stories, songs, finger plays and rhymes. Playtime follows. Classes are for newborns under the age of 18 months.

Toddler story time — Tuesdays, Feb. 9-23, 10:30 a.m.: Music, movement, stories and rhymes for ages 18 months to 3 years. Reading readiness skills are included. Caregiver required.

Preschool story time — Thursdays, Feb. 4-25, 1 p.m.: Children aged 3-5 years enjoy stories, songs and getting ready to read with a parent of caregiver.

Third annual Arlington-Stillaguamish Eagle Festival — Saturday, Feb. 6, 10 a.m.: Come downtown to celebrate Arlington’s natural heritage. Drop in to visit library staff at 103 East Third Street for children’s activities.

Sweets for the Sweet Cookie Decorating — Friday, Feb. 12, 3:30 p.m.: Decorate a cookie for someone special or treat yourself. Sponsored by the Friends of the Arlington Library.

For teens:

Teen gaming — Wednesday, Feb. 3, 3 p.m.: Teenagers are invited to an afternoon of Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution. Snacks provided. Supported by the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation and Friends of the Arlington Library.

Teen advisory group — Thursday, Feb. 4, 2:40 p.m.: Teens are invited to share their ideas for library programs, purchases and improvements. Community service hours and leadership opportunities are available. New members always welcome. Refreshments included. Held at Arlington High School Library.

Pierced Hearts Chocolate Making — Friday, Feb. 12, 3 p.m.: Create sweet treats for your valentine or yourself.

Manga Book Group — Monday, Feb. 22, 3 p.m.: Fans of anime or manga can share their enthusiasm with other teens as they discuss their favorites. Snacks provided.
