ARLINGTON — Community Transit’s final open house for its 2012 system changes starts at 5 p.m. on June 23 at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club.

The roughly three-hour open house will not include any formal presentations, but Community Transit staff will be on hand to answer questions and explain the three alternatives for next year’s system changes with maps and information boards.

More than 1,250 online comment forms have been completed so far, but according to Community Transit officials, local riders have been under-represented. All bus routes and riders will be affected by the 20 percent service reduction.

Alternatives I and II would keep the current route network largely the same while reducing bus frequencies to save money. Frequency would be reduced most between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays, and on lower ridership or higher cost route segments. Saturday bus frequencies would also be impacted. Routes 121 and 190 would be eliminated.

Alternative III’s peak period weekday frequencies on primary route corridors would range from 12-30 minutes, while for the rest of the local route network, most frequencies on weekdays would be 40-60 minutes. In Alternatives I and II, fewer routes and corridors have such frequent service. Alternative III would also create new routing in Marysville along 88th Street for a modified Route 222, thereby eliminating routing on Grove and 100th streets.
