ARLINGTON — Adults interested in going back to school for their high school diplomas can now do so locally.

Everett Community College will be offering its adult high school diploma program at Weston High School starting Jan. 4.

The 10-week program offers students 19 years and older a chance to take a variety of classes to finish their high school education, including English, history, social studies, math and science.

Courses are offered at a reduced fee for those who are at least 19 years old and have been Washington state residents for at least one year, said Everett Community College instructor Lynn Granstrom.

Students who do not meet those criteria must pay regular Everett Community College tuition fees.

All students are responsible for buying books, supplies and paying a technology fee.

To register, students need an official copy of their high school transcript in a sealed envelope. A transcript copy can be obtained by contacting the last high school they attended.

Students can begin the registration process by bringing their transcripts during the first two nights of class, Granstrom said.

Courses take place from 6:15 to 8:50 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
