FBI identifies suspect in Jan. 16 robbery

A resident of Arlington who is believed to be a heroin user, David E. Hayes is suspected by the FBI to be responsible for several bank robberies including the Jan. 16 robbery at Arlington's Bank of America. The other robberies he is suspected of are the Dec. 28, 2008 US Bank robbery inside Albertson’s, at 11401 State Street, Marysville and the Jan. 14, 2009 US Bank inside Albertson’s, at 13050 Aurora Ave N, Seattle.

Arlington – A resident of Arlington who is believed to be a heroin user, David E. Hayes is suspected by the FBI to be responsible for several bank robberies including the Jan. 16 robbery at Arlington’s Bank of America. The other robberies he is suspected of are the Dec. 28, 2008 US Bank robbery inside Albertson’s, at 11401 State Street, Marysville and the Jan. 14, 2009 US Bank inside Albertson’s, at 13050 Aurora Ave N, Seattle.

Arlington’s Bank of America was robbed just three days after another bank robber turned herself in on the same day that she robbed Arlington Key Bank Jan. 13.

Police are seeking assistance in finding the second bank robber who was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, baggy pants, and a black baseball hat.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 25 years old, 5’7” tall and weighing about 140 lbs. The suspect also had medium length light brown / dirty blonde hair and some facial hair. The suspect The suspect implied a weapon, although no weapons were actually displayed during the robbery. The suspect was last seen leaving the area on foot, running north on N. Olympic Avenue.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are on scene assisting Arlington Police with the investigation. Anyone recognizing the subject in the photograph above is asked to call 911 with information.
