Food, school supply drive to help children in need

Those interested in donating food or school supplies to help low-incom children will soon have an opportunity to do so.

ARLINGTON — Those interested in donating food or school supplies to help low-incom children will soon have an opportunity to do so.

A food and school supply drive will take place at Three Peas in a Pod in Arlington from noon to 4 p.m., Aug. 29.

The organization will be offering a free catfish/coleslaw lunch to the first 150 donors who purchase of a beverage and donate three non-perishable food items or three school supply items.

“We’re working with the school district and we took a look at Arlington to see what we could do to help,” said Brandon Dutton, community coordinator for Vision Quest Family Services, which is operated in conjunction with Three Peas in a Pod by LKI Family Services.

Food donations will go to the Arlington Food Bank, while school supplies will help low-income, at-risk or foster children in the community.

The drive is sponsored by Vision Quest Family Services, Arlington Food Bank and Three Peas in a Pod.

Three Peas in a Pod is located at 318 N. Olympic Ave., Arlington. Their phone number is 360 435-4449.
