Foundation to hold Hawaiian-themed bingo night

The Arlington Dollars for Scholars Foundation will be holding its annual bingo night at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 3, at Presidents Elementary School.

ARLINGTON — Residents will soon have a chance to play bingo for a good cause.

The Arlington Dollars for Scholars Foundation will be holding its annual bingo night at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 3, at Presidents Elementary School.

This year the foundation is sponsoring a Hawaiian-themed event, said Valerie Bradford, foundation treasurer and event organizer.

Proceeds from the bingo night go toward scholarships for Arlington School District students.

Most of this year’s prizes are gift certificates to restaurants in Arlington and Smokey Point.

Additional prizes will be awarded for best Hawaiian-themed costume and best chewing gum bubble.

“We just try to make it fun,” Bradford said.

Snacks and food will also be available for purchase.

So far in 2009, the foundation has raised more than $100,000. Those funds have helped contribute to 106 scholarships benefiting 89 students.

Presidents Elementary is located at 501 E. Third St., Arlington.
