G.F. man charged in shooting spree that included wounding M’ville officer

MARYSVILLE – The 43-year-old Granite Falls man suspected of shooting a Marysville police sergeant during a gunfire spree in three cities last last has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

MARYSVILLE – The 43-year-old Granite Falls man suspected of shooting a Marysville police sergeant during a gunfire spree in three cities last last has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

The charges are two counts of first-degree assault and three counts of drive-by shooting. He is scheduled to appear in court today in Everett at 1 p.m.

Detectives confirmed that at least two Marysville police officers discharged their weapons during the incident.

Suspect Hans Hansen was injured by one of the shots, and treated at Providence Regional Medical Center. Sgt. James Maples, who was shot allegedly by Hansen, was treated at the same hospital and released.

One officer who shot at Hansen has been with the agency for five years and the other for three and a half years.  Both have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard procedure.

Dispatch confirmed that they received approximately 30 “shots fired” calls between 9:15 and 10:15 p.m. in the Granite Falls, Lake Stevens and Marysville areas.
