Game, online auction raising money for American Cancer Society

ARLINGTON – The bleachers in the gym at Arlington High School were “pinked out” when the boys basketball team played Marysville-Pilchuck’s Jan. 8.

Students, parents, staff, coaches, team and community members donned pink “Coaches vs Cancer” t-shirts. Eight honorary coaches shared their personal stories about fighting cancer.

The annual event to raise money for the American Cancer Society brought in $1,200. Money is still coming in, and the community can participate in the online auction of 49 items until it closes Jan. 16 at www.32auctions.com/coachesvscancer2016. Tax-deductible donations can be donated through the Relay for Life website at main.acsevents.org/site/TR?team_id=1973707&fr_id=75464&pg=team.

Cascade Valley Hospital handed out free pink t-shirts to the first 750 fans, cheerleaders had pink pompoms, the Color Guard had pink shoulder cords, the

band dressed in pink, and the Robotics club decorated their robot in pink. The Arlington Booster Club also offered pink cotton candy.
