SMOKEY POINT For the Gutierrez family, charity has become a tradition, over the course of the past four decades, and since they run their own chiropractic clinic, its a tradition that theyve been able to share with their patients and the surrounding community.
Through Nov. 20, the Gutierrez Family Chiropractic at 3704 172nd St. NE, in Suite N, is collecting items and donations for the Arlington Food Bank, in time for Thanksgiving, as one of the twice-annual food drives theyve conducted in Smokey Point since 1997, and in Everett before that for 35 years.
Last year, we collect $145 and filled four collection barrels, said Dr. Anthony Gutierrez III, who practices at the clinic with his mother, Dr. Veronica Gutierrez, and his father, Dr. Anthony Gutierrez Jr. Last year, we got a lot of support from the Arlington High School DECA Santas Helpers.
The Gutierrez family has no plans to take a holiday from charity during the Christmas season, either, since theyll be adopting a local family in need for the holidays. While the needy family hasnt been chosen yet, the collection drive for them will start immediately after the Gutierrez familys food drive finishes.
Well have tags for each member of the family, indicating if theyre a boy or a girl, how old they are, what sizes of clothes they wear and even what some of their likes are, said Anthony Gutierrez III. Were giving back because weve been fortunate in our lives, and our patients like contributing to this because it gives them the sense of being part of something. You dont even have to be a patient at our clinic to donate to these drives.
