How healthy are Stilly Valley residents? Health providers ask in new survey

ARLINGTON – Arlington and Darrington residents are invited to take a survey to give local public health care providers a better idea of what people think about their own health and well-being.

Cascade Valley Health Foundation (CVHF), Stilly Valley Health Connections (SVHC) and Providence Institute for a Healthier Community are partnering on the confidential online survey to help them better understand and meet local needs.

“We want to create a ‘well-being North Star’ for the Stillaguamish Valley region,” CVHF president Heather Logan said.

“We want to know if people feel connected to the community, have access to prevention resources they need, and are getting appropriate health screenings,” Logan said.

The survey can be found at www.bit.ly/stillysurvey19. It takes about 10 minutes to complete. Residents in the 98223 and 98241 zip codes can participate. Respondents who answer one particular question in the survey will be entered for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate for Bistro San Martin in Arlington.

Deadline to fill it out is April 15.

The survey was developed by Providence Institute for a Healthier Community, which also runs a countywide health and well-being monitor each year. Results from the valley survey will be compared to countywide data.

The data collected reveals a “community snapshot” – perceptions, satisfaction and behaviors – related to relationships and social connections; mental and emotional health; physical health; security and basic needs; and other areas.

Ardis Schmiege, superintendent of Stilly Valley Health Connections/Snohomish County Public Hospital District No. 3, said they are eager to view the results.

“We look forward to hearing what community members feel about their sense of health and well-being that the survey captures,” Schmiege said. Also, “The data related to community connectedness, access to information and resources that support prevention and early detection, and chronic disease support.”
