Koster seeks volunteers for AOD board

EVERETT John Kosters office is looking for three good people from North Snohomish County (Council District No. 1) to serve three-year terms on the Snohomish County Alcohol and Other Drugs Board.
The AOD is required by RCW 70.96A and County Ordinance 87-061 to address issues related to the treatment and prevention of the misuse of alcohol and other drugs.
The mission of the AOD is to provide advocacy and leadership in treatment and prevention programs that will eliminate alcohol, tobacco and other drug misuse and promote healthy community attitudes in Snohomish County.
The board is made up of 15 members, including two from each council district, four recovering alcohol or drug abusers, a minority representative, and no more than four elected or appointed county or city officials.
Law enforcement, medical profession and education representatives are encouraged.
Members serve three-year terms and are limited to three consecutive terms.
The various county advisory boards and commissions are great places to serve for those who with a passion for public service and a willingness to tackle some of the most difficult problems we face as a county, Koster said.
As you know, we are a self governing people and it is imperative that quality individuals with sensible ideas fill these positions.
The AOD Board meets the second Tuesday of each month and is sometimes cancelled in the summer due to vacations and in December due to the holidays.
Board meetings are from 5:30 –
7 p.m. in the PUD building on California St.
