SMOKEY POINT Snohomish County Clerk candidates Sonya Kraski and Bob Dantini are headed to the general elections in November, while fellow candidate Ron Ledford is out of the race.
According to the Snohomish County Auditors Office, Kraski received 40.48 percent of the vote, with 34,606 votes casts for her, while Dantini received 37.22 percent of the vote, with 31,815 votes cast for him. Of the total 85,483 votes cast for Snohomish County Clerk in the primaries, Ledford received 18,690 votes, giving him 21.86 percent of the vote, while the remaining 372 votes cast, making up 0.44 percent of the vote, went to write-in candidates.
Kraski, an Arlington resident, reiterated her 22 years of experience in the county clerks office, from file clerk to senior manager, as a unique qualification for the role of county clerk itself.
As someone whos worked at all levels in the clerks office, I have the ability to see labor issues from both staff and management perspectives, said Kraski, who repeated her calls for both increased availability and increased caution with court documents on the Internet.
Im obviously delighted with the results, said Dantini, a resident of Mill Creek. I think the two candidates remaining are the best choices for county clerk. That being said, I think I offer a clear choice of proven success.
Dantini again touted his experience with both legislation and administration, citing his 28 years in public sector finance, accounting and auditing, including 12 years each as the performance auditor for the Snohomish County Council and the Snohomish County Treasurer.
Thanks for the votes, but I need more of them, Dantini said.
Ledford, a Marysville resident, was unavailable for comment as of press time.
