ARLINGTON — It seemed things were going well at first for Arlington in the game against No. 1 3A North Stanwood Feb. 2.

It was a competitive first quarter where Arlington outscored the Spartans 16-15, and then took off with another run 25-17 into the second quarter with scores from Sam Tregoning, Brandon Wiersma and Drew Bryson. The Eagles appeared to have the Spartans locked down defensively but were having trouble getting the ball into the basket. Stanwood caught up and won first half 31-27.

After halftime, Arlington’s defense stayed competitive, collecting defensive rebounds, but the offensive productivity continued to lack as Stanwood eventually took off with a run to win the third quarter 51-41, and the game ending 75-64. Donovan Sellgren led Arlington with 16 points and Weirsma added 15. Arlington’s record dropped to 7-11. They play at Marysville Getchell Feb. 8 at 7:15 p.m.
