Lakewood football gets into playoffs; Arlington soccer plays for district title (slide show)

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood football team defeated Shorecrest 24-19 Nov. 3 in a Cascade Conference 2A play-in game for districts. Tyler Courtney rushed for 182 yards and scored three touchdowns. He rushed in two of his TDs in the first half but also caught a TD for 16 yards from sophomore quarterback Austin Lane. Lakewood, now 6-4, will play undefeated Squalicum at Civic Stadium in Bellingham Saturday, Nov. 7.

ARLINGTON — Arlington’s Olivia Larson scored two goals and teammates McKenzie Buell and Danielle Baker tacked on a goal each to shut out Glacier Peak 4-0 Nov. 3. Goalie Kat Sanchez kept GP scoreless. Arlington will now host Edmonds Woodway Nov. 7 for the district title. With the win, Arlington is already qualified for state, where it reached the quarterfinals last year. Arlington is now 15-3.
