Learning geometry through art

Zoe Kerschner, Wyatt Kerschner and Henry Kooy visit the Pioneer Art Museum, March 24, from Mrs. Fay’s second-grade classroom. The art museum is a project of the school’s part-time art teacher, Shelli Olin, who is paid for by Pioneer’s Parent Teacher Student Association. She teaches art to fourth- and fifth- grades for almost an hour a week, and the younger classes get art a half hour twice a month, she said. The “art museum” featured pictures of works by many famous artists. Each attending students received a list of items to find in the artwork, such as vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines.
