Less than one-fifth of ballots for Aug. 17 primary cast so far in Snohomish County

MARYSIVLLE – In most districts, less than one-fifth of all the ballots for the Aug. 17 primary election sent out to Snohomish County voters have been completed and returned.

Statistics released by Snohomish County Elections, current as of 9:05 a.m. Aug. 12, show that in the Second Congressional District race for U.S. Representative, 184,976 ballots were mailed out to Snohomish County voters. Of those, 32,040 (17.32 percent) have been returned as of Thursday.

Several positions in the state Legislature also appear on local ballots.

In the 38th Legislative District, 59,269 ballots were mailed out. Of those, 10,045 (16.95 percent) have been returned.

In the 39th Legislative District, 63,257 ballots were mailed out and 11,041 (17.45 percent) have been returned.

In the 44th District, 86,378 ballots were sent out and 13,472 (15.60 percent) have been returned.

In the Marysville School District, 36,310 ballots were sent out, while 5,924 (16.32 percent) have been returned.

And for the North County Regional Fire Authority, 9,979 ballots were sent and 2,418 (24.23 percent) have been returned.

Countywide, 377,878 ballots were sent out and 63,704 (16.86 percent) have been completed and returned.

County officials will no longer be mailing out voters’ pamphlets, and instead are encouraging voters to visit the Snohomish County Auditor’s website at www.www.snoco.org/elections.

Voters can drop off their ballots at the county’s secure drop box, located at the corner of Wall Street and Rockefeller Avenue in Everett, until 8 p.m. Aug. 17.

Voters who have not yet returned their completed ballots can take them to a number of community collection centers.

From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, voters can take their ballots to the Marysville Sno-Isle Library, located at 6120 Grove Street.
