Local football teams take losses (slide show)

OAK HARBOR — A two-point conversion gave up by Arlington in the fourth quarter handed the Eagles a 22-21 loss to Oak Harbor Oct. 21 in a Wesco 3A North League football game.

Arlington was behind 8-0 in the first quarter but its signature pass attack dug them out of the hole. The Eagles put up 14 points to Oak Harbor’s six (failed two-point conversion) in the second quarter, starting with an 8-yard completion to sophomore quarterback Anthony Whitis from junior reciever Cooper Cummings, and a 25-yard pass from Whitis to sophomore receiver Griffin Gardoski to tie it 14-14 at halftime.

Whitis threw another TD for 15 yards to junior receiver Campbell Hudson in the third quarter to give Arlington its first lead of the game at 21-14. Oak Harbor scored six points in the fourth quarter on a run by Prince Lollar, who finished the game with two TDs and 162 yards. He then ran in the two-point conversion. Arlington’s record dropped to 3-5.

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood football team fell to Sedro-Woolley 41-21 Oct. 21 in 2A Northwest Conference League game.

Cougar Matt Ramirez scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter, after Lakewood fell behind 10-0.

Lakewood wouldn’t score again until after 31 unanswered points by S-W. Lakewood junior quarterback Austin Lane closed out the game with two TD passes in the fourth quarter, hitting Taylor Tresch on a 4-yard pass and then a 7-yarder to Jon Cox III. Lakewood’s record dropped to 2-5.

STANWOOD — The Marysville-Pilchuck football team lost to Stanwood 27-14 Oct. 21 Wesco 3A North League game.

M-P was shut out 14-0 in the first half. After another Stanwood touchdown in the third quarter (with a missed extra point), M-P’s Christian Snyder scored on a 5-yard run to allow the Tommies to close in 20-7. Another Stanwood TD in the final quarter kept the game out of reach for M-P.

M-P’s record fell to 2-6.

MARYSVILLE — Marysville Getchell lost to Curtis 60-13 in a non-league football game Oct. 21.
