Man dies in Marysville house fire

MARYSVILLE – Marysville firefighters rescued one person and found another person dead while responding to a house fire Thursday in the 7900 block of 72nd Drive NE.

Firefighters dispatched to the blaze just before 3 a.m. after receiving a report of heavy smoke in the three-story residence. Firefighters found one adult man in a first floor bedroom and transported him to the hospital as a precaution. Another adult man died in a bedroom in the basement of the home.

Seven people lived there. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. Damage, which was mostly contained to the basement and first story of the home, is still being tallied. American Red Cross volunteers is assisting residents.

There is no indication the home had working smoke alarms.
