ARLINGTON A new barbershop has opened on West Avenue and the owner, Sheryl Westfall, and manager. Kelley Hornberger have announced a grand opening celebration set for June 16.
Westfall and Hornberger formerly worked out of Olympic Avenue Barber and moved to West Avenue just in time to beat the street construction project, although thats not really the reason they moved.
The opportunity just happened to come available at that time, Westfall said.
The two barbers have worked in downtown Arlington for five years and they like the clientele here.
We cater to those people who want to come in with their jeans and work boots on without an appointment, Hornberger said.
No need to clean up before you come to West Avenue Barber, Westfall said.
The decor reflects that style and attitude. They have chain saws and fishing equipment, a black leather couch, and outdoor art, to compliment the antique barber chair sitting in the front corner.
We got the carved fish from the street fair, Westfall said. Her fiance helped with the remodel of the location that formerly had a gift shop, and before that, a Maytag repair service.
Their mission is to make a zillion dollars, one $10-haircut at a time.
Westfall lives in Stanwood and Hornberger lives in Everett.
Their grand opening celebration will include finger foods, balloons and hourly raffles of free haircuts.
