Fun run for Eagle Wings rescheduled
The Arlington Runners Club’s walk-n-roll for Eagle Wings Ministry has been rescheduled for April 26 after the March 29 event got snowed out.
“We loved the snow but since it created safety problems for our participants on wheels, we felt we should cancel the event and reschedule it,” said Jon Hatfield, president of Arlington Runners Club.
The “run” that welcomes participants of all abilities has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 26. Registration starts at 9:45 a.m. and the “Walk, Roll & Run” begins at 11 a.m. at Haller Park, 1100 N. West Ave. in Arlington.
Runners who were pre-registered for the March 29 event are all set for the postponed event set for April 26. New registrants can save $5 by registering before April 18.

Volunteers needed for arts commission
Snohomish County is seeking volunteers to serve as an alternate for the north county region on the Snohomish County Arts Commission.
County residents who have experience in any form of the arts, from writing or painting to dancing and acting, are encouraged to apply. Currently there are four alternate positions for citizens of District 1 (north county), 2, 5 and an “At-Large” position to be appointed by the County Executive.
The Arts Commission is a 14-member board that provides input to the county executive and council on potential art projects that will enhance quality of life and economics in Snohomish County.
Volunteer arts commissioners are expected to attend monthly meetings, on the second Wednesday of each month from 12:30 – 2 p.m. at the county campus in downtown Everett.
Responsibilities include working with staff to develop goals for the overall vision of the county’s arts program and to generate ideas for public art projects, community outreach, special events, performances, education and fund-raising programs.

County to collect mercury at free April event
To reduce the amount of potential mercury exposure in Snohomish County, the Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Station at 3434 McDougall Ave., Everett, will accept free of charge bulk mercury and mercury-containing devices between April 23-26.
The facility will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. those days and will collect bulk mercury, fever thermometers, thermostats, mercury switches and devices containing bulk mercury. Businesses, schools and residents with such products are encouraged to bring them in for proper disposal.
To ensure safe transportation of this hazardous material:
n seal jars tightly;
n put items in sealable plastic bags;
n carefully transport to the hazardous-waste collection facility.
Mercury vaporizes when warm, creating toxic fumes. It is very important to rid homes and businesses of the substance. Do not touch the mercury.
