North County receives clean audit

North County Fire/EMS received a clean audit for 2008 from the Washington State Auditor's office.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — North County Fire/EMS received a clean audit for 2008 from the Washington State Auditor’s office.

The audit, part of a regular review of the fire authority’s finances and financial practices, was conducted in September 2009, and found that North County was compliant in its accounting and financial reporting activities, according to a release.

“We’re very pleased with the results,” Chief Dale Fulfs said. “It’s important that our customers know that we are good managers of their tax dollars.”

The regional fire authority serves more than 15,000 residents across 104 square miles. Fire officials have said that North County provided a significant cost savings for tax payers by eliminating duplicate costs for administration, overhead and operations.

“We work hard to be financially transparent to our taxpayers,” Fulfs said. “This audit report is a good reflection of that.”

Copies of the audit are available at the Warm Beach (19727 Marine Drive, Stanwood) or Kackman (3002 252nd Street NE, Arlington) locations. It can also be viewed online at www.sao.wa.gov.
