Diva Etta “Babe” Melhart is sworn in as the new president of the Old Bags of Arlington, with Sherry Cox stepping down. The Old Bags of Arlington, a women’s non-profit philanthropic club dedicated to helping children and families in the Arlington area, initiated their new president at its February meeting at the American Legion in Arlington. Cox was president for three years and brought a new sense of organization and purpose to the group, said Judi Martin. “Babe will carry on the traditions while adding her own personal touch of fun, fun, fun, to the group,” Martin said. Anyone interested in joining the Old Bags or making cash donations to their cause, should call Babe at 360-435-3279 or Sherry at 360-435-6996. They meet the first Friday of each month at noon in the American Legion Post 76 in the 100 block of North Olympic Avenue. Their “fun day” is on the third Friday of each month. Donations are welcome at any time.
