Arlington Rotarian Judy Cartwright stands in front of the sign identifying the Rotary Club of Arlingtons Disc Golf Course, which the club helped fund with proceeds from last years Great Stilly Duck Dash. Cartwright is one of two enducktees in an exclusive club of Rotary Ducks that are enduckted each year just in time the annual Great Stilly Duck Dash, the clubs major fundraiser for the year. Each year the Rotary Club of Arlington names one girl duck and one boy duck to represent the club and promote tickets sales for the rubber duck race on the Stillaguamish River which starts with the blast of a cannon at 7:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July. Along with Cartwright, John Peeters is the boy duck this year. The ducks hover around town during the weeks before the Duck Dash, and word has it, this year, they have been frequenting the towns bars on Friday night. High School commencement is a long established public ceremony to recognize student achievement. A time to honor the students and to convey our appreciation of completion of a task, a goal met, applause for a job well done.
