ARLINGTON Linda Byrnes seemed thoroughly surprised Saturday night, Jan. 26, when David Boulton announced she was the Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, just two days after she was honored at a chamber Business After Hours for being named Superintendent of the Year for the state of Washington.
SMOKEY POINT Samaritans Purse is once again providing area residents with a local means of sending toys and other items to needy children around the world for the holidays, when the Amen and Living Word Christian bookstores will be collecting shoeboxes full of gifts for this years Operation Christmas Child during the month of November.
Arlington High School Senior Queen Melissa Lockwood and King Abe Boursaw had to sit across from one another to make room for the pep rallys Hollywood-themed red carpet walkway, in the gymnasium of Haller Middle School. Boursaw is gearing up for job training in aviation mechanics after graduation, while Lockwood will be heading off to Lake Washington Technical School to become a dental hygienist.
ARLINGTON While Veterans Day officially falls on Nov. 11, the schools and city of Arlington will be commemorating the service of Americas military members throughout the week leading up to the day itself.
MARYSVILLE Pumpkin pushing paid off for children as the Marysville Rotary Club handed out checks to Arlington, Lakewood and Marysville schools last weekend. Over the last seven years the noon group has contributed more than $110,000 to help literacy efforts in the three north Snohomish County districts by selling pumpkins and concessions, with lots of free fun on the side.
