SMOKEY POINT After an extended absence, a familiar business has reopened under new management.
When Ho Kim saw that Paradise Burgers in Smokey Point was up for sale, he discussed it with his wife and decided that it was an opportunity to cater to a built-in clientele, without making the mistakes he believes were made by the previous owners.
When I talked to people, they said it served good burgers, but its service was not as good, said Kim, whose previous business experience was in international trading. I want it to be a place where everyone will love to eat, and to be part of the community.
Regina Matthews, one of Kims employees, likewise touted their commitment to providing fresh-grilled, made-to-order meals, as opposed to run-of-the-mill fast-food stuff.
Among Paradise Burgers in-demand menu items are its homemade onion rings, its deep-fried mushrooms and its home-battered fish and chips, all of which Matthews characterized as reasonably priced. She also expressed her commitment to maintaining the establishments levels of service and cleanliness, to foster a good atmosphere.
While Kim is floating ideas such as expanding the menus, based on customer suggestions, and possibly getting his business involved in supporting local charities, hes still planning to take it slow and focus on more immediate customer satisfaction for now.
A lot of folks who were here before wanted to see this place reopen, Kim said. Im glad to be able to make them happy again. I look forward to being a good neighbor.
Paradise Burgers is located at 17323 Smokey Point Boulevard in Arlington, and is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
