Smith slated to hold town hall meeting by phone

Rep. Norma Smith will be hosting a town hall meeting by telephone from 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 7.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Rep. Norma Smith will be hosting a town hall meeting by telephone from 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 7.

Residents throughout the 10th Legislative District, which includes Silvana, Warm Beach and parts of Arlington and Marysville, are being encouraged to participate in the call.

Constituents can call in toll-free at 877-229-8493 and enter PIN 14881 to join the call. The program will work much like a call-in radio show, in which participants ask Smith questions, according to a legislative release.

Smith said in the release that the idea to host the call came after months of meeting with district residents and hearing about the challenges they face.

“I decided to organize another community call to get the latest thoughts from constituents on taxes, the budget and anything else that is on their minds prior to the start of the legislative session,” she said.

Constituents’ questions will dictate topics during the call, but Smith said she will talk briefly on the state budget and other issues she will be working on during the next session, which begins Jan. 11.

“If I don’t have the answer, I will find the information and follow up with constituents,” Smith said.

Smith can be reached directly at 360-786-7884 or by e-mail at smith.norma@leg.wa.gov.
