MARYSVILLE – A father and son face charges in connection with an accident that injured a grandma with her two grandchildren at a bus stop Aug. 10.

A 14-year-old boy was driving a vehicle when the accident occurred. Due to his age, charges of negligent driving in the second degree are being referred to a juvenile prosecutor. A misdemeanor criminal traffic charge of no valid operator’s license also is recommended.

The father will be charged through the Marysville Court with the misdemeanor criminal traffic charge of allowing an unauthorized minor to drive, the Marysville Police Department reported Monday. The grandmother suffered an injury to her leg. “We are grateful and happy to report that the infant only suffered bumps and bruises,” the MPD report says.

The three were transported by ambulance after the vehicle left the roadway and struck a bus stop on State Avenue just north of Grove Street. Sitting on the bench at the bus stop were the 60-year-old grandma, who was holding her 1-year-old granddaughter, while her 13-year old granddaughter sat next to them.
