Spring concert comes to Arlington

The North Cascades Concert Band recently announced the times and dates of its spring concert series.

ARLINGTON — The North Cascades Concert Band recently announced the times and dates of its spring concert series.

The band, directed by Lylburn Layer and Rob Pattermann, will be performing three concerts in April — including one at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center in Arlington on April 9.

The Arlington concert, titled “Sousa and His Band – 2010,” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for adults are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for adults.

Pieces will include “American Salute” by Morton Gould, “Lads of Wamphray” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, “Lutherian Rhapsody” by John Rantschler, “Pineapple Poll suite” by Arthur Sullivan and “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” by Leroy Anderson.

Encores will be selected from the works of John Philip Sousa.

The band will also be performing at 7:30 p.m. on April 7 at the Bellingham High School Performing Arts Center at 2020 Cornwall Avenue and 3 p.m. on April 11 at Brodniak Hall in Anacortes, located at 1600 20th Street.

Tickets for the Arlington concert can be purchased at www.byrnesperformingarts.org or at the door. Tickets for the other two shows are also available at Piper Music and Village Books in Bellingham and Watermark Book Co. in Anacortes.
