ARLINGTON — As of 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, Haller and Twin Rivers parks are expected to close for the duration of the Stillaguamish River’s flooding, but Arlington officials aren’t expecting any street closures.

“You can’t predict Mother Nature, though,” said Kristin Banfield, communications director for the city. “We’re about two feet into moderate flooding levels at this point.”

Flood stage is 13 feet, and Banfield estimated the river levels as of press time at 15 feet.

The North Fork of the Stillaguamish River was already at 11.1 feet at 8:15 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has forecast that the river will crest around 10 p.m., before falling below flood stage on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 14.

“We already have street-sweepers out to clear the leaves out of our drains and gutters,” Banfield said. “The heavy winds we’ve received in the past twenty-four hours haven’t helped.”
