ARLINGTON — Two computers containing donation information on the congressional campaign of Snohomish County Councilman John Koster were recently stolen from his campaign headquarters.

Police were contacted on March 18 about the break-in and burglary, which took place at Koster’s campaign headquarters in the 2200 block of SR 530, said city of Arlington spokeswoman Kristin Banfield.

One laptop and one desktop computer were reported stolen, and authorities found that a desk printer had been thrown through a window from inside of the building into the facility’s parking lot.

Koster confirmed on Thursday, March 25, that the theft took place on Wednesday, March 17 at the building, which is being rented out by representatives for the Koster campaign.

Campaign officials saw that the vandalism had taken place the next morning.

Authorities originally stated that the theft took place between March 12 and March 18.

“I don’t know if it was just vandals or if it was politically motivated,” Koster said.

Koster, a Republican, is currently running against U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, a Democrat, in the 2nd District. That district encompasses all of Whatcom, Skagit and Island counties, and part of Snohomish County.

Police have no suspects and are continuing their investigation, Banfield said.

“At this time, there are no signs that this is a politically motivated crime,” Banfield said.
