ARLINGTON — Former PGA pro Darren Tucker of Arlington won the GlenEagle men’s club championship at GlenEagle Golf Course Aug. 17.

The event welcomed a broad range of talent, from ex-pros to recreational golfers from ages as young as 16 to 65-years-old.

“It’s kind of an inter-generational event,” current president Steve Herring said.

The 36-hole event lasted for two days and was open to all members of the men’s club.

“Historically, we play it every year in September, but moved it to August because of better weather,” former president and webmaster Shane Rowell said. “It’s really just an excuse to come out and play.”

The championship saw 24 golfers appear to compete for the No. 1 spot and also just to have fun in the pleasant weather.

The championship was formed in the 1990’s to determine the best golfer in the men’s club.

The GlenEagle men’s club was formed in 1992 and had its first club championship in 1995.

The men’s club started out with with 50 members but has grown to 123.

The winner’s name will be engraved on the club house trophy.
