Tveit Road opens after months of work

Construction crews have completed work and re-opened a stretch of Tveit Road.

ARLINGTON — Construction crews have completed work and re-opened a stretch of Tveit Road.

The Arlington road was repaired and repaved earlier this month, nearly seven months after a slide caused an 80-foot section of asphalt and guardrail to slide off the road’s north side.

The affected section had been closed since April.

City officials contracted with Snohomish County officials in September to make the repair.

Officials estimate the design and repair will cost the city $240,000. Banfield said the city is pursuing reimbursement from FEMA for the repairs.

“We’re still getting the striping in place, then the guardrail is going to be done,” said Kristin Banfield, city of Arlington spokeswoman. “The county and city worked really closely and it went really well.”
