ARLINGTON – A pilot suffered minor injuries Monday when his ultralight aircraft took off without him at the Arlington Airport.

The plane somehow took off on its own. The pilot tried to keep the plane on the ground, but he was unsuccessful as the aircraft took flight, a city news release says.

The plane quickly crash-landed on the roof of an adjacent airport hangar.

The Arlington Fire Department secured the aircraft until the NTSB and FAA gave them the OK to remove it.

There was little to no damage of the hangar, and the pilot was treated onscene for minor injuries, the city reported.
