UPDATE | All lanes reopened after deadly accident blocks I-5 near Arlington

All southbound lanes of I-5, just north of SR 531 near Arlington have been reopened after being blocked from an earlier fatal accident.

ARLINGTON – All southbound lanes of I-5, just north of SR 531 near Arlington have reopened after being blocked for several hours from an earlier fatal accident.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported that the lanes were reopened shortly before 8 a.m.

The Washington State Patrol and WSDOT Incident Response Team are on scene. According to WSDOT, traffic is being stopped and detoured off at exit 208. Traffic caught between the collision scene and exit 208 are using the right shoulder to bypass the scene. To get around the scene, drivers are being detoured off at SR 530, then to Smokey Point Blvd., then to 172n St. NE and then back to I-5.
