Robert L. Carlson will be charged with first-degree assault in Everett District Court, according to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office, for allegedly injuring 40-year-old Elliot Carbajal after a confrontation during the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 12.

Carbajal, 40, sustained life-threatening injuries, and has been on life support at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle since Dec. 12, city of Arlington spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.

Officers responded to an assault in progress, believed to be between Carbajal and Carlson, at Fourth Street and Olympic Avenue just after 1 a.m. Dec. 12, Banfield said.

Carbajal was found on the ground and unresponsive, and authorities administered CPR until he was transported to Harborview.
