Cassandra Ann Smathers

Cassandra Ann Smathers, of Tulalip, Wash., passed away suddenly June 14, 2007, in Arlington, Wash.
She was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Seattle, Wash.
She is survived by children, Fred Howard Smathers, Jr. (Nancy), Tamra Ann Johnston (Gary), and Tina Marie Wagner (Patrick); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Casey is also survived by brothers and sisters, John Burtis, Mildred Nazworthy, Debura Strubble, Denice Wilson, Jerry Carter, Delano Carter, Holly Gregory, Taral Blake, Garin Hedberg, JoAnn Morris, Stacy Hillis and Todd Hillis; and dart partner and best friend, Terry Tar. She helped raise sister, Holly and grandson, Justin.
She is preceded in death by father, Floyd Burtis; mother, Joan Hedberg; and adopted father, Glenn Carter.
Cassandra was the co-owner for 29 years of Marysville Cemetery, owned and operated Conway Tavern and later worked for the Tulalip Tribes Inc. She enjoyed darts, sewing and cooking.
A time for visitation was held from 9 – 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. A Graveside Service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Marysville Cemetery. A reception immediately followed the service at the Kenny Moses Building, Tulalip.
