Cherie Lynn Smith

Cherie Lynn Smith Van Wyck, born in Memphis, Tenn., on March 6, 1975, to Jerry and Janis Smith, passed away peacefully after a years struggle with cancer on Jan. 22, 2007, in Arlington, Wash.
She graduated from Meadowdale High School in Edmonds, Wash., in 1993 and Edmonds Community College in 1999 with an Associates degree. Cherie worked as a veterinary technician at the Westgate Veterinary Hospital and then as a vault teller at Kitsap Bank before retiring to be a stay at home mom with her daughter, Savannah. She also enjoyed photography, friends and nature.
Cherie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Ileene Creson and J. L. Smith.
She leaves behind her husband, Seth; daughter, Savannah; parents, Jerry and Jan Smith; mother-in-law, Denise Van Wyck; sisters, Shannon Skates, Julie Smith and Jennifer Smith; nephew and nieces, Zachary Skates, Sarah Skates and Madison Greenman; four uncles and one aunt.
A celebration of her life was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Evergreen Funeral Home, with interment following at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her memory to the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
