Clara Catherine May

Clara Kay Catherine May (Tuengel), of Republic, Wash., passed away peacefully, early Nov. 7, 2006.
Kay was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Snohomish, Wash. She lived most of her life in Snohomish County and Camano Island, Wash., until 1994 when she moved with her loving husband of 55 years to Republic. Gods country is what she liked to call it.
Kay met Milton May in 1950. After a short courtship, they were married Feb. 26, 1951. Together they had four children. During her working years she was always a waitress or a clerk for mom and pop grocery stores. In 1969 she and Milton bought the Machias Grocery Store and ran that for three years. Kay was always a people person, she had a smile that lit up her whole face. She was also the best darn pie and homemade soup maker you could find. She loved to cook and was very good at it. Her homemade buttermilk pancakes were always a hit at the many camping and fishing trips to Alta Lake.
In her final years, you could find Kay and Milt tending the biggest garden around. Kay was very busy with all her friends at church, her garden and her loving cats and dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, of Snohomish; brother, Ernest Tuengel, of Lowell, Wash.; Raymond Tuengel, of Snohomish; sister, Ella Frederickson, of Snohomish.
She is survived by husband, Milton May, of Republic; daughters, Sandy (John), of Lake Stevens, Wash., Judy (Jim) Klepper, of Republic, and Sue May, of Marysville, Wash.; son, Randy (May) May, of Everett; sister, Ann McDannald, of Petros, Wash.; sister-in-law, Pat Tuengel, of Snohomish; sister-in-law, Bobbi Tuengel, of Stanwood, Wash; seven beautiful grandchildren; and two wonderful great-grandsons.
At Kays request there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
The family would like to thank Trinity Lutheran Church of Republic, Wash. for all their thoughtful prayers and great friendship. Also, Ferry Countys Hospice program. With extra love and thank yous to Karen (RN), Susan (RN) and Ardella (Caregiver).
